Picking a DM tool for X comes down to one choice: a tool in its own cloud, or one in your browser. Cloud tools keep sending with your laptop shut, and most ask for your login cookies to do it. With a browser tool your login stays put. The price is that Chrome must stay open.
Eight tools still send DMs on X, and we make one of them, so read our row with that in mind.
Cloud or browser: the choice that matters most
A cloud tool sends from its own servers, so it needs your logged-in session to send as you. XAutoDM's own FAQ says you connect "by pasting your session cookies", and DMpro's quick start asks for the same. That session is what keeps you signed in to X, so you are handing over the keys to the account.
A browser tool sends from the Chrome you are already signed in to, and your X login never leaves your browser. The cost is that Chrome must stay open, and every account on that computer shares its internet address. Set them next to X's own API and the trade comes down to who holds your login:
| How it sends | What it needs from you | The catch |
|---|---|---|
| A cloud tool. | Your session cookies, in most cases. | Someone else holds your login. |
| An extension in your browser. | Nothing. You stay signed in yourself. | Chrome must stay open, and accounts share your internet address. |
| X's official API. | A sign-in on X's own screen. | Each DM costs a credit, and reach is narrower. |
Twittrz calls browser extensions the highest ban risk, since they send from your own session and address. Part of that is fair, because accounts on one computer do share an address. But X's rule covers every method, ours included: "You may not send unsolicited Direct Messages in a bulk or automated manner". Extension vs cloud vs API covers each risk in depth.
What each tool costs, and how
Prices are monthly, read on each maker's site on 5 October 2026, and sorted from the cheapest paid start to the dearest:
| Tool | How it gets into your account | Price from |
|---|---|---|
| Nodott. | Not published. | $19 for 2. |
| XAutoDM. | You paste session cookies. | Free plan. $29, or $199 for 10. |
| Tweet Hunter. | X's own login. | $29. |
| Twittrz. | Tokens or a login. | Free plan. $39 covers 150. |
| Outpulse. | X's own login, official API. | $49, on its May page. |
| Xsender (ours). | Your own Chrome. Nothing to paste. | $59. $264 for 10. |
| Xreacher. | Stores your login, encrypted. | $67. $189 for 10. |
| DMpro. | You paste cookies. | $97. Custom for 10. |
Who each one suits
Pick by what you need most: lead finding, follow-ups, or your login kept at home.
- Nodott looks for people already asking for what you sell. It does not publish where it runs or how it signs in.
- XAutoDM is the cheapest start with a free plan, plus lead finding and follow-ups. You paste your cookies, and it says it works best with a blue check.
- Tweet Hunter is a posting tool first. It DMs people who engage with you rather than cold lists.
- Twittrz is built for fleets of 150 accounts or more, with a proxy per account. It takes tokens or a login and is paid in crypto only.
- Outpulse is the cautious pick, on X's official API. Each DM costs a credit.
- Ours suits 1 to 20 accounts when you will not hand over a login. It reads each account's cap and sends up to it. It needs Chrome open, and it has no lead finder and no follow-ups. Agencies can see how it runs client accounts.
- Xreacher suits big operations. It keeps sending with your computer off, covers LinkedIn and Telegram too, and scales past 100 accounts. It stores your X login, encrypted, and wants Premium accounts at least six months old.
- DMpro suits people who like building flows. It has branching follow-ups and a 7-day refund, and it also takes your cookies.
We compare ourselves with three of them in depth: Xreacher, XAutoDM and DMpro.
Two names to skip
Drippi was a common pick until September 2026. Its homepage now reads "Drippi has shut down", and it lists its customer database for sale. If you used it, remove its access to your X account and ask for your data to be deleted. What former Drippi users should do walks through it.
Hypefury still shows up in roundups, but its pricing FAQ says it "no longer supports" X.
No tool sends more than X allows
Vendors like to quote big daily numbers. DMpro sells 250 DMs a day per account, and Xreacher talks about 30 to 50 on Premium. X decides the real number, and it is the same whichever tool presses send:
| Your X plan | Message requests per 24 hours |
|---|---|
| Free | 7 |
| Premium | 35 |
| Premium Plus | 75 |
| Premium Business | 500 |

Above those caps, a tool can only reach your followers or people you already chat with. We ran 46 customer accounts from 2 July to 5 October 2026. On 521 of the 965 days one got an error 226, it had just sent about 35 first messages.
From 2 July to 5 October 2026, none of the 46 X accounts Xsender ran was suspended. 9 had a temporary phone or puzzle check. That is a record, not a promise. Ask any vendor for theirs.
Which one to try first
If you run one account on a small budget, start with a free plan or a 7-day trial and see whether your list replies before paying for scale. If no computer can stay on, a cloud tool is the practical answer, as long as you are willing to paste cookies. Otherwise, use a tool on X's own login, or a browser extension.
Whichever you pick, the tool only sends more of what you write, and our users see 1% to 8% replies depending on the script. If you run 1 to 3 accounts and want to keep your login, start with our 7-day trial. From 4 accounts up, price your exact count: at 10 accounts, Xreacher is $189, XAutoDM $199 and we are $264.
FAQ
What is the cheapest Twitter DM automation tool?
XAutoDM and Twittrz both have a free plan. The cheapest paid start is Nodott at $19 for two accounts. At ten accounts, Twittrz is cheapest at $39, then Xreacher at $189.
Is there a free Twitter auto DM tool?
Partly. XAutoDM and Twittrz offer a free plan for one account. Xreacher, Nodott and Tweet Hunter offer 7-day trials, and so does ours, with a card at checkout.
Which DM tools work without my password or cookies?
Outpulse and Tweet Hunter use X's own login screen. Xsender, a Chrome extension, sends from the browser you are already signed in to, so your login is never handed over. Xreacher stores your login, encrypted, and Nodott does not say how it signs in, so ask before you connect.
Try it on your own X accounts. See plans and the 7-day trial
